One person is dead and another in critical condition after an fire and possible explosion this morning caused the partial collapse of commercial welding building in Los Angeles.

No other victims were found after a search using sniffer dogs was concluded at 1:24 EST, according to the L.A. fire department.

Work is being done to stabilize the building.

The fire occurred at the Iron Works Co. building, on 59th Street between Avalon Boulevard and South Central Avenue.

Pictures taken from a helicopter show the front half the roof has collapsed, and the back sagging downward.

The building’s front wall has burned away, and beams and other debris fill the street. Local media report that the fire was possibly accompanied or caused by an explosion.

Authorities say the cause of the fire is not yet known.
