Kimbo Slice, the “Web Brawler” who did a stint in the UFC a few years ago, might sign with Bellator, according to speculative rumors.
According to CagePotato, not entirely credible rumors are saying that Slice--born Kevin Ferguson--will sign with the promotion.
“Is this Bellator’s plan: Sign Kimbo. Debut him the night Bellator goes head-to-head with the UFC. Bury the UFC. Get sponsors to jump ship,” the website joking said in a tweet.
However, it look credible that Slice, 40, will sign with the promotion, and it could just be a hoax started via Twitter.
It’s worth noting that Slice’s last MMA fight was UFC 113 against Matt Mitrione. He lost via a TKO.
His last boxing match was in January 2013 against Shane Tilyard. He won that fight via KO.
A few months ago, he said he wanted to fight MMA fighter Butterbean.
“I would love to fight Kimbo Slice, a good friend of mine is training him. I would love to fight him, Kimbo came out and stood up with Tank Abbott and knocked him out, but he wouldn’t do that with me. It would be a heck of a fight, but I would knock out Kimbo Slice before the fight got too far though,” Butterbean responded at the time.
