Kevin La, a Cal State Fullerton student, has been identified as the hiker who died at Hermit Falls in Angeles National Forest, California.

La, a 19-year-old kinesiology major at the university, was declared dead at a local hospital after he jumped off a cliff into a pool of water on Monday.

He was unconscious when he surfaced, reported the Pasadena Star News.

La was with 12 other students, 5 of whom jumped before him.

Hermit Falls is a popular place to cliff jump, reported KTLA

Derek Do, one of La’s roommates, said that La “was always cheerful” and enjoyed playing video games and card games.

“He would always support you for whatever you wanted to do,” said Do. “If you buy food and you don’t have enough (money), he would just pay it for you, and he wouldn’t even care if you would pay him back. He’s one of the best roommates.”

A fund on Give Forward has been established to pay funeral expenses.
