KCC Infidels moved off the bottom of the standings with their first win as the second part of Round 9 was played in the Hong Kong Cricket Association Sunday Championship League on Nov 25.

The weather in Hong Kong had been drizzly rain for the previous few days and this continued on match day. It was, therefore, not a surprise to learn that the Shaffi’s Vagabonds match against the HKCC Wanders at the Mission Road Ground had been abandoned without a ball being bowled.

However, the match at the closer mowed KCC Ground between Headwin SLCC and KCC Infidels did go ahead. Playing cricket in the rain is never much fun—and so the day turned out for SLCC, who were put into bat and dismissed in 23 overs for 104 runs. Infidels knocked off the runs without loss of wicket in 15 overs.

At the completion of Round 9, Kowloon Cricket Club (KCC)’s other team in the league, the KCC Templars, lead the table with 19 points, ahead of Shaffi’s Vagabonds on 14 points and Pakistan Association in third place on 10 points from only two games.

The nature of the 11-team, 25-Round league’s scheduling means that some clubs have played two, three or four matches; accordingly, evaluating the competition’s progress presents many variables. For instance, the top three teams in the standings are all undefeated, but have played four, three and two matches, respectively.
