Defending champion Kowloon Bowling Green Club took a giant step forward to retain their championship after defeating third-placed Craigengower Cricket Club in a postponed match on Sunday, October 18. Now they just need two points from their last game to be crowned again.

Before the postponed match, KBGC visited Wu Shan Bowling Green to play a tricky game against fourth-placed Tuen Mun Sports Association in the regular league fixture over the weekend. Despite the rink skipped by James Cheng being lost to Leo Li, the other two KBGC rinks had no problem in getting a win over their opponents and they earned a victory of 6-2.

CCC also piled up the pressure on the leader with a 8-0 home victory against already relegated Taipo Lawn Bowls Club.

The players at KBGC team B also gave a big help to their brothers when they defeated second-placed Kowloon Cricket Club 6-2 at home on Saturday.

In the match between KBGC and CCC on Sunday, which was originally scheduled for October 3, all three rinks of CCC quickly opened up a lead after the first few ends. Top Hong Kong youth player Lee Ka Ho maintained this lead throughout and defeated Hong Kong international Stanley Lai 21:17.

CCC’s Kevin Fung was leading 11:7 after 14 ends but lost the last four ends to concede the game 11:15 to James Cheng. Similarly, CCC’s Liu Chin Hong also leaded 14:10 with five ends to go but ultimately lost the game 15:18.

After taking both games 6-2, KBGC now lead second-placed KCC by seven points. CCC is further down the rank with eight points less than KCC, but with a game in hand.

At the bottom, Island Lawn Bowls Club still maintain their slim hope of survival but need to get a win at home and hope KCC do them a favour to beat Filipino Club.

Of all divisions, the only champion confirmed is Club de Recreio, who lead the Division 3 table with a massive 24 points.

The last game of the season for the men will be played at 3:00 this weekend. With the women’s last game played next weekend.
