Kayla Jean Mueller Boyfriend, Photos: Allegedly Killed in Airstrike

February 6, 2015 Updated: February 6, 2015

Kayla Jean Mueller was identified as the woman being held by ISIS, according to reports on Friday.

A statement issued by the Islamic State, or ISIS, group claims that she has been killed in Jordanian airstrikes on the outskirts of the Syrian city of Raqqa, the terrorist organization’s main stronghold.

The statement identified the woman as Kayla Jean Mueller and it said she was killed on Friday during Muslim prayers in airstrikes that hit “the same location for more than an hour,” reported The Associated Press.

The SITE Intelligence Group, which tracks jihadist activity, posted the ISIS statement. “The failed Jordanian aircraft killed an American female hostage,” the message reads. “No mujahid was injured in the bombardment, and all praise is due to Allah.”

Mueller was the only known hostage that was being held by ISIS. She disappeared in August 2013 after she drove into Aleppo, the northern Syria city, with her Syrian boyfriend.

The group said the woman was killed by “fire of the shells dropped on the site.”

ISIS posted photos that allegedly show the bombed site, which displayed a damaged three-story building. US officials said they are looking into the report, and the White House didn’t immediately have a comment on the matter.

AP noted that the statement couldn’t be verified.

The SITE group said:

The Islamic State (IS) claimed that an American female hostage was killed when a Jordanian aircraft struck the building in which she was located in Syria’s ar-Raqqah governorate.

In a report distributed on Twitter on February 6, 2015, the group stated that Kayla Jean Mueller was killed when she was buried beneath the rubble of the building. Pictures show the alleged targeted site.

Following is a translation of the report:

The Failed Jordanian Aircraft Killed an American Female Hostage

The criminal Crusader coalition aircraft bombarded a site outside the city of ar-Raqqah today at noon while the people were performing the Friday prayer. The air assaults were continuous on the same location for more than an hour.

Allah made their pursuit disappointed and deterred their cunning, and no mujahid was injured in the bombardment, and all praise is due to Allah.

It was confirmed to us the killing of an American female hostage by fire of the shells dropped on the site, and she is Kayla Jean Mueller.
