The MTV European Music Awards (EMAs) Nominations were recently announced and it looks like 2014 will be an exciting year for the music industry.
Katy Perry is in the lead of the race with seven nominations for Best US Act, Best Song, Best Pop, Best Female, Best Live, Best Video, and Best Look categories.
But Perry is closely followed by Ariana Grande who has six nominations. Grande will go head to head with Perry in the Best Song, Best Female, and Best Pop categories, while she also has nominations in Best New, Biggest Fans, and Best Push categories.
The third place spot is a tie with 5 nominations each for Pharrell Williams and Australian boy band “5 Seconds of Summer.”
Williams is up for Best Song, Best Male, Best Video, Best World Stage performance, and Best US Act.
“5 Seconds of Summer” is up for Best New, Best Push, Best Pop, Biggest Fans, and Best Australian Act categories.
Other performers up for the trophies include Ed Sheeran, Béyonce, One Direction and many others.
The MTV EMAs will take place at in Glasgow, Scotland, on November 9, 2014. The event will be aired starting at 7p.m. EST.
