Katy Perry has become the first person in the world to reach 50 million Twitter followers.

The pop singer surpassed Justin Bieber last fall after he was the first to reach 40 million followers in June 2013.

The 10, 20, and 30 million marks were accomplished by Lady Gaga through 2012.

Ashton Kutcher was an early leader, becoming to first to reach one million followers in 2009, according to BBC.

Although Perry has 50 million followers some of them are not real people.

A survey from Status People of Perry’s first 1.25 million fans on Twitter last year found that 42 percent of them were fake.
