Karina Smirhoff, who was eliminated after the fourth round of Dancing with the Stars with Mike Sorrentino from Jersey Shore a month ago, is engaged to pitcher Brad Penny, according to People Magazine.

The ballroom star shared the good news while participating in the 5th anniversary party for the Tao nightclub, held in Las Vegas the past weekend.

The couple has been engaged since Oct. 4, when Smirhoff´s manager got a text message from Penny and suddenly left her alone in the restaurant where they were dining.

“Then Brad walked in and it still didn’t register. He got down on one knee and he opened the box and I said, ‘Thank you’. I honestly didn’t expect it,”  she said to People Magazine .

Smirhoff told the celebrity magazine the couple kept it secret for the past month because they wanted the families “to come out and celebrate and be a family first before we let the cat out of the bag.”

She was so excited that she tweeted twice within 24 hours to thank her fans.

“Thank you all so much for ur [your] warm wishes. I couldn’t be happier. I feel very lucky and blessed. Love u!!!! Yayayay!”

The second time, she wrote, “thank u, guys, for all the wishes and congrats! I love my twitter family! You are the best and kindest, and I’m lucky to have u!!! Xoxoxoxo.”

Having made appearances at various baseball matches since 2000, Penny, 32, reached the peak of his career in 2007 when he had 16 wins.  He was a contender for the 2007 Cy Young Award, coming in third in voting for the National League, according to his official website.

The ballroom star´s fiancé has had three wins this year, according to Baseball-Reference.com.
