In Karachi, 11 more people were killed in separate incidents on the fifth straight day of violence. With the total dead reaching at least 87 the government decided to impose a curfew in 25 sensitive areas and start a search operation, Daily Times report.
“The operation would be against criminal elements in which de-weaponization would be part of the operation,” Sindh Special Home Secretary Collin Kamran Dost explained.
The violence flared up Saturday as the party with the largest following in the area Mutthaida Qaumi Movement (MQM) blamed elements of a peace committee set up by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Awami National Party, for the killing in August of MQM lawmaker Raza Haider, the Statesman reported. The MQM is partners with PPP in the ruling coalition in Sindh Province.
