Fan Says Kanye West Has Refused Money From GoFundMe Campaign

February 25, 2016 Updated: February 26, 2016

The fact that Kanye West is $53 million in debt does not mean that he will accept help from just anyone. A fan who had started a GoFundMe campaign for the rapper says that West has declined the funds.

Jeremy Piatt had started the campaign on the crowdfunding website after West tweeted that he is $53 million in personal debt.

“We must open our hearts and wallets for Kanye today,” Piatt wrote at the time on the GoFundMe campaign website.

But on Feb. 25, Piatt had an update for those who had donated the more than $8000 so far. Kayne does not want the money.

Instead the funds will be now be used for a non-profit organization which helps young aspiring musicians.

“In lieu of funding Mr. West’s artistic vision, 100% of the funds will be headed to young aspiring musicians hoping to fulfill their dreams,” Piatt wrote. Screenshot 2016-02-25 17.41.55

People who don’t want to see their donation intended for West go to the non-profit can request a refund.

So far over $1000 dollars has been pulled out of the campaign.
