Jones accuses Sonnen: UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones accused challenger Chael Sonnen that he has used steroids for most of his career.

“Chael Sonnen is a guy, people know he’s done steroids throughout his entire career,” Jones said on Tuesday night’s edition of UFC Tonight on Fuel TV. “Probably the reason why his testosterone is low now.”

The two are slated to fight during UFC 159 on April 20 after competing against one another during last season’s “The Ultimate Fighter.”

Elaborating further, Jones said that the past steroid usage does not make up the “heart or an attitude of a champion. That’s what I meant when I said he lacks a championship soul.”

Nearly every day, Sonnen has been posting declarations on Twitter that he will become the next UFC light heavyweight champion. He tweeted on April 1: “25 - the minutes Jon Jones will spend on his back having a make out session with my fists.”

“I have seen some of Chael’s countdown Twitter feed, but I think I stopped reading it at about day 27,” Jones added. “It doesn’t fuel me anymore. It’s foolishness really.”

Reports on Wednesday pointed out that Sonnen has never tested positive for steroids.

Later Jones said on Tuesday that he’s “really not concerned extremely with Chael’s gifts.” Jones added, “He’s an awesome fighter.”

“Chael Sonnen is doing what he does best, which is promoting the fight,” Jones added. “And I’m going to let him do it.”
