Promotion of the sequel to “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” hit a snag on Thursday with outrage on social media at Johnny Depp’s presence in the cast photo.

The film franchise published the photo on its Twitter feed on Thursday, Nov. 16.
Heard dropped the domestic violence lawsuit against Depp in August 2016. According to a report by Yahoo News, “sources close to Amber ”allegedly say she “doesn’t want to bury” Depp, believing that if she were to file a police report, it could “trigger an arrest and prosecution.”

The sequel to “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” is called “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” and features Depp as the title villain—Gellert Grindelwald. The series is the brainchild of J.K.Rowling, of Harry Potter renown. The setting for the “Fantastic Beasts” films is the Wizarding World universe, well-known to fans of the kid wizard and anyone ever subjected to the Harry Potter merchandising machine.

The Depp casting controversy aside, the film’s promoters have announced that “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” will hit cinemas on Nov. 16, 2018.
