Johnny Depp’s ex-girlfriend Vanessa Paradis believes it’s his fiancee Amber Heard’s fault that Depp has been drinking heavily lately.

Depp shocked fans by showing up drunk to the Hollywood Film Awards, and Paradis, 42, apparently blames Heard.

“It burns Vanessa to see him making such a fool of himself. She blames Amber for his mid-life crisis,” a friend was quoted by gossip site RadarOnline as saying. “Watching him slurring and swaying was a nightmare for her.”

There’s been no confirmation from Depp that he’s had problems with drinking or is having trouble with Heard.

Paradis and Depp were never married but she’s the mother of his two children, Lily-Rose Melody Depp and Jack John Christopher Depp III.

“Vanessa’s convinced Amber’s not mature or tough enough to deal with Johnny’s drinking,” the friend added.

The unverified report comes after People magazine, citing a source close to Depp, said that the 51-year-old actor was reconsidering getting married to Heard, 28.  The magazine quoted a “longtime friend” of Depp as saying “there is no rush to marry at the moment.”

“Johnny is crazy in love with Amber, but there is turmoil in the relationship,” a source said, noting that the age gap is part of the problem.

Depp also has trouble with Heard’s flirtatious ways. “Amber flirts and has many different relationships,” the source said.

Depp told Rolling Stone last year that he stopped drinking because alcohol caused problems, but he also stipulated that he wasn’t an alcoholic.

“No. I don’t have the physical need for the drug alcohol,” he said. “No, it’s more my medication, my self-medication over the years to calm the circus. Once the circus kicks in, the festivities in the brain, it can be ruthless.”
