President Barack Obama is nominating restructuring expert John Koskinen as IRS commissioner.

Former IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman resigned recently after it came to light that the agency was targeting conservative groups.

Koskinen has recently served as the non-executive chairman of Freddie Mac, from 2008 to 2011, and as president of the United States Soccer Foundation from 2004 through 2008.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
