John “Junior” Gotti, or John Angelo Gotti III, the son of the late mob boss John Gotti, was reportedly stabbed in the stomach.
According to the New York Daily News, Gotti told investigators that he was stabbed in the stomach while he was trying to break up a fight between two strangers at a CVS parking lot in Long Island. The parking lot fight took place in Syosset.
The incident is being investigated by Nassau County Police Department and Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice’s office, a source told the paper.
“We are aware of the incident and it is under review. Beyond that I have no further comment,” said Rick Whelan, with Rice’s office.
Gotti checked himself into the Syosset Hospital and got treatment for the injury.
A source told the paper that he doesn’t believe Gotti’s story.
“It’s hard to believe he would break up a fight between two strangers,” said the source.
Law enforcement said that he was the acting boss of the Gambino crime family from 1992 to 1999 after his father was imprisoned. He was a defendant on trials between 2004 and 2009 for racketeering trials.
Gotti has claimed that he is not affiliated with organized crime anymore.
He is one of five children born to John Joseph Gotti, Jr. and Victoria DiGiorgio Gotti.
