Jo Elliott-Blakeslee, a missing 63-year-old hiker, was found dead at the Craters of the Moon National Monument in Idaho--a month after she was reported missing.
The National Park Service confirmed with KTVB that a body that was found in the park belonged to her.
Park rangers carrying out a helicopter search of lava fields near the Tree Molds Trails on Tuesday found the body.
Officials said the body was found around a mile from where search and rescue workers found another hiker, Amelia Linkert. They were both reported missing on Sept. 24.
“We hope that this will bring closure to her family, friends and all those who have been involved in the search. We join the family in thanking the searchers and local communities for the tremendous outpouring of support that we have received throughout this intense effort,” Park Superintendent Dan Buckley said, according to KPVI.
Elliott-Blakeslee had worked as a physician in the Boise area.
