[xtypo_dropcap]A[/xtypo_dropcap]n Illinois woman is suing her ex-fiancé for nearly $100,000 for ditching her days before their planned wedding, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Dominique Buttitta, 32, said her wedding to 31-year-old Vito Salerno was set for October but the groom got cold feet and jilted her four days before the ceremony.

Buttitta, who is an attorney from Hoffman Estates, Ill., is seeking to recover more than $95,000 that she personally spent on the wedding, including $30,000 to rent the banquet hall, $10,000 for an orchestra, $5,000 for her gown, and more than $10,000 for lighting and flowers.

The lawsuit, filed by the disappointed woman in Cook County Circuit Court in Illinois, is also claiming “severe emotional distress” as well as breach of promise to marry, ABC News reported.

Civil attorney John Zielinski told ABC News that Buttitta has a good chance to recover the expenses that she documented, due to an Illinois “breach of promise” to marry law.

However, Zielinski noted that the jilted bride is not likely to be awarded damages for emotional distress. "Illinois has limited recovery to actual damages so you can't complain about extra damages," he told ABC News.
