JFK to Close Major Runway

John F. Kennedy’s Airport’s main runway is now closed for four months beginning Monday. One-third of departures from the airport and around half of the arrivals will be dispersed to three other runways, according to a report from the Associated Press. Passengers should be advised that there will be delays in airplane travel to and from the airport. The runway, known as the Bay Runway, is one of the longest runways in the world at just under three miles long. Major airlines like Jetblue and American Airlines say they may have to charge higher fares because they will cut back on service by about 10 percent.
