New York Jets v Oakland Raiders

New York Jets’ running back LaDainian Tomlinson has been ruled out of the team’s Thursday night game in Denver due to a sprained MCL in his left knee, according to a report on the NFL’s website.

Tomlinson alluded to possible being inactive Tuesday after he was unable to practice saying, “If the game was Sunday for sure I know I‘d be able to play. But since it’s Thursday I can’t say that I’m going to be able to make it.” When asked if he’d like to wait until Thursday to see how he feels Tomlinson said he didn’t want to short-change the short week’s game-planning with a last-minute decision.

The Jets, who are a game and a tie-breaker behind New England for first place, will replace the future Hall of Famer on the roster with rookie Bilal Powell. Powell a fourth-round pick out of Louisville has been inactive the entire season behind running backs Tomlinson, Joe McKnight, and Shonn Greene.
