BUFFALO—The New York Jets (5-3) stymied the Buffalo Bills (5-3) and especially their offense in winning 27-11 Sunday afternoon.

Buffalo entered the contest averaging 30.1 points per game—third best in the league – but had just 3 until scoring on their final drive with the game’s outcome well in hand.

Meanwhile the Jets’ offense—specifically their offensive line—continued where they left off two weeks ago (before their bye week) against San Diego in controlling the game. New York had the ball for nearly 38 of the game’s 60 minutes, running 15 more plays than Buffalo.

Up 3-0 at the half the Jets broke open the game early in the third quarter.

Following a Nick Folk 50-yard field goal to put New York up 6-0, Jet’s starting defensive tackle Sione Pouha forced a fumble on Bills’ running back Fred Jackson—his first fumble of the season—recovered by safety Jim Leonhard at Buffalo’s 22-yard line. Three plays later, LaDainian Tomlinson scored to put the Jets up 13-0.

After Buffalo responded with a field goal, the Jets struck right back.

Mark Sanchez found Santonio Holmes for an eight-yard pass in the end zone to make it 20-3 with 3:27 left in the third quarter.

Sanchez finished the day 20-28 passing for 230 yards with an interception and a touchdown. Plaxico Burress had team-highs of five catches and 79 receiving yards while tight end Dustin Keller was right behind with four for 64.

Shonn Greene led the team with 19 carries for 76 yards on the ground.
