Jessica Michelle Ewing and Keifer Kyle Brown have been arrested over the death of Virginia Tech student Samanata Shrestha.

Ewing, 22, faces one count of second-degree murder. Brown, 23, faces charges of accessory after the fact and that he transported, secreted, concealed or altered a dead body, reported the Roanake Times.

An investigation into Shrestha’s wellbeing over the weekend quickly turned into a missing persons case and then a homicide case, Blacksburg police Lt. Nathan O’Dell said.

Arrest warrants indicate the murder took place on Saturday, while the investigation began on Sunday.

Shrestha, 21, was from Vienna,  Virginia.

She was an Honors student who was part of the Who’s Who Among American Universities and Colleges 2013. She was a biological science major and a part of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha organization.

“One teacher described her as a ‘faculty member’s dream’ because of her exceptional scholarship, love of learning, and ‘she always had a smile,’ ” Virginia Tech President Charles Steger wrote in an open letter to the community. “That an inspiring young woman would lose her life to violent crime hurts beyond belief.”

Ram Kharel, an uncle of the girl, told the Collegiate Times that no motive has been established.
