Jessica Meuse has charmed in her American Idol run so far, including her initial audition.

She started out with an all-original song called “Blue-Eyed Lie,” pleasing the judges.

Henry Connick Jr. said that Meuse seemed like a low-maintenance person who would be hanging with her band instead of holed up in the dressing room. Meuse countered that she is a solo, acoustic act.

Meuse is a Slapout, Alabama native and was born in Texas.

“ I have always had a passion for music, and it has been with me since I was a toddler,” she says on her Reverb Nation page. “I wrote my first song when I was 18 in response to a real-life situation, and my writing just continued to mature from that day on. I taught myself guitar during my high school days, and I’m still driven to advance my skill as a guitarist. I’ve always been a singer, though, ever since I can remember.”

All of her songs are based on true stories.

Her influences come from many genres of music, including Coldplay, Shinedown, Alter Bridge, and Bruno Mars. Along with original songs she performs covers.

Meuse told a fan via the website that she doesn’t have an up-to-date album at the moment but will be working on one.

Others worried that Meuse won’t play in Alabama anymore since she’s in Hollywood, and that she would change.

“I really appreciate you saying this because...well...I ain’t changin‘ anytime soon,” Mesue said. As for performances, she said that she’s too busy booking so she’ll just go where the opportunities present themselves.
