Jennifer Lopez has signed a $12 million contract to be a judge on the next season of the popular television program “American Idol” according to People magazine.

After negotiations between Lopez and the Fox network seemed to have failed recently, a source close to Marc Anthony’s wife told People magazine that the billionaire’s contract is already signed.

According to the same source it took $12 million for an excited Lopez to fill the gap created by Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi and Ellen DeGeneres who left after saying they would not participate in the new season of the reality show.

This is not the Puerto Rican singer’s first appearance in the show. Previously she starred as a guest mentor in the 2007 edition.

U.S. network Fox has not confirmed the signing of the contract nor announced who else will be on the panel of experts. According to several U.S. media, artists like Steve Tyler, Shania Twain, Elton John and Chris Isaak could also join the program.

Forbes magazine ranked “American Idol the number one U.S. television program based on advertising revenue. According to data published, the reality show raises an average of $8.1 million for every thirty minutes of air time, which makes it top in the rankings.
