Jennifer Aniston, the “Friends” star, got some devastating news this week.
Her mother, actress Nancy Dow, died at the age of 79.
Aniston issued a statement about her mother’s death to People magazine on Wednesday night.
“It is with great sadness that my brother John and I announce the passing of our Mother Nancy Dow. She was 79 years old and passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends after enduring a long illness,” Aniston, 47, said in the statement.
“We ask that our family’s privacy be respected as we grieve our loss.”

Dow had suffered a stroke in 2011 and suffered another stroke a year after that.
She was married to second husband John Aniston, the “Days of Our Lives” soap opera star, from 1965 to 1980. They got divorced when Jennifer was 9.
Her first husband was Jack Melick, the father of Jennifer’s brother, John Melick.

Dow appeared in 1960s TV shows “The Beverly Hillbillies” and “The Wild Wild West,” according to IMDb.
Aniston reportedly had a falling out with her mother at one point, saying there were years the two didn’t talk, but according to a 2015 interview with the Hollywood Reporter, she said, “We’re all fine.”
No funeral plans have been revealed.
