Rumors are flying about Val Chmerkovskiy and Janel Parrish dating, being this season’s “Meryl and Maks.”
The chemistry between the pair is undeniable and the comparisons make sense, but there could be problems because unlike Meryl Davis, Janel has a boyfriend, Payson Lewis.
In fact, Lewis was in the audience in week 1, when Val and Janel appeared to kiss backstage.
But the romance continued in the week 2 rehearsals, a source told Radar Online.
“They looked like they were about to hook up,” the source said. “They looked like they were getting hot and steamy on the dance floor.”

“They spend so much time together and they are so touchy feely and all over each other,” the source added. “It happens sometimes on the show.”
The source noted, though, that short romances often develop on the show but they “usually don’t last past the finale.”
Unlike Meryl and Maks, Janel and Val have made no attempt to hide how intimate they’ve become. Pictures posted on their Instagram and Twitter accounts show them hugging, embracing, and kissing. Janel even brought her mother to rehearsal to meet Maks this past week. And in between kissing backstage, Janel told Val “I love you.”
There are claims that the romance is actually a “showmance,” but only time will tell. Some fans of Parrish are rushing to her defense, posting on Instagram and other places that she would never cheat on her boyfriend.
Janel is best known for her role as Mona on Pretty Little Liars, though her character was killed off just before the midseason break.
Val is a professional dancer who has spent multiple seasons on Dancing With the Stars, which kicked off season 19 this week.
He was confident even before meeting Janel, telling the camera “When she sees me and I see her this is going to be a match made in heaven.”
And when they started rehearsing, Janel commented on how she loved “his swag.”
“I think he’s one of the best dancers on the show,” she added. Val responded: “She’s amazing. I’m very lucky and fortunate.”
Things did calm down between the pair on week 2 performance night, possibly in reaction to the rumors.
