Jamie Ranae West Dead: Austin Resident One of SXSW Crash Victims; Husband Evan West Injured

Jamie Ranae West has been named as one of the victims of the crash outside The Mohawk early Thursday in Austin, Texas during the South By Southwest music festival.

West was riding a moped with her husband Evan West when the vehicle hit them, reported Mary Ann Roser of the Austin-Anerican Statesman.

West died on the scene while Westwas rushed to the hospital in stable condition. He is at UMC Brackenridge.

West was married and worked at Eliane et Lena Boutique.

She lived in Austin.

The other victim was identified as Steven Craenmehr.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Rashad Charjuan Owens of Killeen.

He was being pursued by police when he went the wrong way down a street and plowed through temporary barricades set up for the music festival.

People were waiting in line outside The Mohawk to see Tyler the Creator perform early Thursday.

The crash happened around 12:30 a.m. local time.

In addition to West and Craenmehr dying, another 23 persons were injured.

Five of those were initially listed as critically injured.
