A woman who killed a man by spiking his Jagermeister with poison got 20 years in prison.
SEATTLE — A woman has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for killing her ex-boyfriend by serving him poisoned liquor.
King County prosecutors say Janjira Smith laced a bottle of Jägermeister with insecticide in October 2006 and gave it to Roger Mitchell Lewis. The poison killed Lewis and temporarily blinded the man’s new girlfriend.
Seattlepi.com reports (http://is.gd/iLaBmd ) that Smith was sentenced Friday. She pleaded guilty in May to second-degree murder and second-degree assault.
Smith fled to her native Thailand soon after the death. She was originally charged with first-degree murder and first-degree assault.
Arrested in London in 2008, she was returned to Seattle in 2011 after a three-year extradition fight.
