Jacksonville Jaguars v Minnesota Vikings

Jacksonville running back Maurice Jones-Drew, who led the NFL in rushing last year, has been ruled out for Week 8 with a foot sprain, according to a report on the NFL’s website.

In addition, the report cites a unnamed source that told NFL.com and NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport that even though the injury won’t require surgery Jones-Drew could miss a significant amount of time.

The 27-year-old Jones-Drew, who ran for 1,616 yards last season—his sixth in the NFL—hurt his foot in the Jaguars’ 26–23 overtime loss to Oakland on Sunday.

The three-time Pro Bowl running back Jones-Drew, who was named an All-Pro last season for the first time in his career, is one of the few bright spots for the 1-5 Jaguars. His replacement is slated to be fourth-year back Rashad Jennings who has averaged 2.6 yards per carry this season on 34 rushing attempts.
