A mass shooting at a Madden video gaming tournament in Florida on Aug. 26, ended with the shooter being killed by law enforcement officers, the Jacksonville Sheriff said.
The mass shooting was captured on live video that was streaming one of the Madden games from the tournament onto the internet.
A screenshot captured a moment before the shots were fired shows what appears to be a laser go across one of the player’s sweatshirts.
At least 18 shots can be heard through the video stream, with multiple people screaming afterward.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said that the shooter was shot dead by law enforcement officers but that there may have been an additional shooter.
“One suspect is dead at the scene, unknown at this time if we have a second suspect. Searches are being conducted,” the office stated.
As of about 5:30 p.m. local time, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office stated that the situation is still fluid and no official casualty numbers are yet available.
Gamer Drini Gjoka said via Twitter that he was at the tournament and that he was hit with a bullet.
“I am literally so lucky. The bullet hit my thumb,” he said.
Florida Governor Rick Scott said that he is speaking with law enforcement in Jacksonville and that he’s receiving updates on the shooting.
