Ivanka Trump, the daughter of former President Donald Trump, has said she won’t “be involved in politics,” shortly after her father on Tuesday night announced his campaign to run again for president in 2024.

“I love my father very much. This time around, I am choosing to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family. I do not plan to be involved in politics,” Ivanka Trump told Fox News.

“While I will always love and support my father, going forward, I will do so outside the political arena. I am grateful to have had the honor of serving the American people and will always be proud of many of our administration’s accomplishments.”

Ivanka Trump, who served as an unpaid adviser to her father during his administration from 2016 to 2020, was not present on Tuesday night at Mar-a-Lago when her father announced his candidacy. Her brother, Donald Trump Jr., also wasn’t there but was active on Twitter, expressing his support.

The former first daughter added that she’s “extremely close” with her father and that “will never change.” However, she doesn’t want to return to the political arena.

“I’ve had many roles over the years, but that of daughter is one of the most elemental and consequential. I am loving this time with my kids, loving life in Miami and the freedom and privacy with having returned to the private sector. This has been one of the greatest times of my life,” she said.

Focus on Family

Ivanka Trump said that since moving from Washington, D.C. to Miami her “kids are thriving” and she wants to “maintain this cadence—this rhythm—at this point in our family’s life.”

Her three children with husband Jared Kushner, who was in attendance at Trump’s long-awaited announcement on Tuesday night, are now aged 11, 9, and 6.

“They are at critical ages, and we are enjoying these moments with them,” Ivanka Trump said. “We’re happy where we are right now, and we will continue to support my father—as his kids.”
