VANCOUVER, Canada—Martin Machacek and his friend Dana, both artists, were blown away by Shen Yun Performing Arts’ opening show at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on Friday night.
“[I’m] speechless. It’s just really inspiring. As an artist, everybody must see this. This is our first time and we’ll be back for sure again,” said Mr. Machacek.
“It was incredible. It was beyond any of my expectations. It was mind-blowing. The amount of talent was just awe-inspiring here,” said Dana, adding that every aspect of the performance impressed her.
“The physical abilities, the choreography, the costumes, the music—everything. The whole package was just incredible.”
“The costumers were unbelievable,” said Mr. Machacek. “I knew just looking at the brochures it would be something really amazing, but I was just breathless.”
New York-based Shen Yun is known for its colourful costumes, intricately choreographed dances, and unique, animated backgrounds digitally projected behind the dancers onstage.
“The backdrop really added to the whole performance. It complemented each of the dances without getting in the way. It was just one more element to make the whole show just amazing,” said Dana.
