iPhone 5c Orders Cut While iPhone 5S Orders Rise, Sources Say

iPhone 5c orders have been cut, a source told the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday.

A source familiar with Apple’s supply chain said that Apple is cutting the orders at the same time that it is raising orders for the iPhone 5S.

The source said that Pegatron Corp, an iPhone assembly company, has had orders reduced by less than 20 percent, while Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., another major assembly contractor, had its orders reduced by a third.

Meanwhile, two Hon Hai executives said Apple has increased this quarter’s order for the iPhone 5S.

Apple has said that it sold nine million iPhones on the first weekend the 5S and 5C debuted, but didn’t specify how many of each model was sold.

The 5S is the higher-end model, which has better features but is also more expensive.
