Apple’s elusive white iPhone 4 won’t be released for several more months ... say what? Somewhere, I think, a hardcore Apple fanboy just died. Quick, clap two iPods together and say “I believe in Steve Jobs” or something.

The company has not yet released an official statement about the matter on their website, but told tech blog All Things Digital: “We’re sorry to disappoint customers waiting for the white iPhone yet again, but we’ve decided to delay its release until this spring.”

The unfortunate delay may be a cruel joke on Apple’s patient loyal customers, or it could still be due to problems Apple mentioned in a July press release blaming challenging manufacturing issues.

The original announcement caused netizens to wonder if it was a marketing ploy, but with today’s fresh news about the spring delay, some have changed their ... iTunes.

One All Things Digital reader said, “Forget it, iPhone 5 is around the corner already.”

Another blogger sardonically replied, “Don’t worry. I’m sure it’s right next to the CDMA version that’ll never come. Keep holding out hope ... .”
