iPhone 4 Pre-Orders Fail on Apple and AT&T Websites

The success of the iPhone and its successor models are passé now. But while it looks like Apple and AT&T don’t need to worry about the success of the iPhone products anymore, they might have to make sure to be able to handle the success of the iPhone 4.

The success of the iPhone and its successor models are passé now. But while it looks like Apple and AT&T don’t need to worry about the success of the iPhone products anymore, they might have to make sure to be able to handle the success of the iPhone 4.

Anxious customers trying to pre-order the iPhone on AT&T and Apple websites found on Tuesday that they were not able to log on to the sites in order to purchase the iPhone.

The New York Times quoted a Andrew Dumont of Seattle as saying on Twitter, “This pre-ordering process is an absolute joke. I’ve tried Apple.com, ATT.com and even calling the store… no luck. #FAIL.”

AT&T and Apple had no comment on the issue.

The tech publication PCWorld quoted a source close to AT&T as saying that the mobile carrier had not properly tested its pre-order system before the launch. Tech blog Gizmodo ran reports of users being able to view other users’ accounts when they attempted to log in to their account page on AT&T’s website.

It is reported that even Apple’s retail app for the iPhone, which was expected to make the pre-order process easier, fails to allow users to pre-order the iPhone.
