The iOS 7 jailbreak from Evad3rs has been out for about a week after much clamoring, but there’s been recommendations for people to wait before trying it.

Some reports said the jailbreak had a number of glitches when it was first rolled out--prompting warnings.

But according to Cult of Mac, the last major problem with the iOS 7 jailbreak was fixed with the A7 chip, meaning it is mostly safe on newer iPhone and iPad models.

The website said that Jay Freeman, known as “Saurik”--the creator of Cydia--updated the Mobile Substrate for iOS 7 and the mobile 64-bit architecture in the iPhone 5s, iPad Air, and the second-generation iPad mini. Freeman said the update was released a week later because he was not informed that the iOS 7 jailbreak was going to be released.

Many reports have pointed out that the only trustworthy jailbreak is Evasi0n provided by Evad3rs.

The jailbreak, according to the team, is “compatible with all iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and iPad mini models running iOS 7.0 through 7.0.4.”

To run it, one needs a computer with Windows, Mac OS X running version 10.7 minimum, or Linux with x86 or x86_64. If running Windows, one needs iTunes set up and one needs an iPhone, iPad, or an iPod. To check for a version of iOS 7, go to Settings/General/About and press Version. Then finally, one needs a USB cable to connect to a computer.

The website recommends backing up the device on iTunes in case something goes wrong. It also says to disable the lock password on iOS and recommends to avoid running iOS- and iTunes-related tasks until the jailbreaking process is complete.

Also, if a process is stuck, it is safe to restart the device and try again by holding down the power and home buttons until it shuts off before rerunning the process, the website said.

It said that the Over The Air updates on iOS 7 can cause the jailbreak to fail and will cause some devices to be stuck on the Apple Boot Logo. “Until we fix that, please restore your device to 7.0.4. with iTunes first,” said the website.

And also, numerous Cydia tweaks for the jailbreak aren’t compatible yet.

More details and the Evasi0n download is offered on the Evad3rs website.
