The new Invisible Girlfriend app lets your family think you have a girlfriend--even if you don’t.

Or, as the app puts it--“Are you dating someone? Invisible Girlfriend gives you an answer - along with believeable virtual and real world proof - so you can get back to living life on your own terms.”

Sick of explaining why you’re single? This is the app for you

Joe Thompson of Ann Arbor, Michigan is already using the app.

“My invisibile girlfriend allows me to focus on my work and not on my dating,” he says on the app’s website.

So what’s the app all about?

First, pick a plan. The $9.99 per month comes with some basic tools, such as interactive texts, automated phone calls, and an emergency interaction button. The $29.99 a month gives random gifts and notes and includes “real voicemails” and a Facebook relationship on profile. The premium $49.99 a month lets the person “create your own story” and includes “custom girlfriend characterization.”

Then, pick a girlfriend from the company’s “extensive library.”

“You'll customize her personality and specifiy how to the two of you will react,” the company says. Once that’s over, you simply live your life.

“We’re not trying to build a girlfriend they can believe in -- that’s a whole other level of technology,” creator Matt Homann told the Riverfront Times. “We’re giving them a better story to tell, even if the story isn’t true.

“This is the business of helping [clients] tell a lie -- we’re thinking of it more as a shield -- to have the excuse ready in hand and not have to be uncomfortable,” said Homann. “It’s lightweight but credible social proof.”
