In Barcelona’s Raval neighborhood, locals draw inspiration from rock stars and the city’s history.
Alejandra Smiths, student/writer from Barcelona, has sometimes days she wants to feel weird: “You can see a lot of countries here. It’s multicultural. You can see Asian people, African people, Maroccan people,
“I think I’m influenced by little bit of everything. Mostly music and music icons, from Bowie to Elvis Presley.” Raval, according to him, is “very bohemian place. It’s a mix of everything. There’s a lot of places with a rich cultural history. That encourages even more culture.”
Mireia, fashion clerk, loves shorts, she is wearing because they are from thrift market for two euro. “In this neighbourhoodeveryone has ownstyle. Everyone is different.”
Graphic designer Deh Andre, would define his style as vintage-street. “I’ve got a lot of clothes from 80’s and also 90’s. I’ve worked at secondhand shop. I am always surrounded by clothes, by vintage environment. Everything I wear have patterns, nothing’s very flat. Basically, I like colors. This comes natural, I wear things with colors and I like mixing colors. It’s related to my lifestyle. I like to express myself.”
