Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Israel July 4–6. He will meet with Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu.
Modi will not be visiting the Palestinian Authority, which could indicate a change in overall policy for the East Asian nation.
Terrorism will be the headline topic of the meetings with Netanyahu.
“Terrorism is always on our table because we are facing and both countries are facing terrorism as a major threat, it’s a new battleground,” explained Israeli Ambassador to India Daniel Carmon.
It is expected Modi will discuss military hardware, including missiles, drones, and radar systems.
Right now India buys $1 billion in Israeli arms annually. India wants to move into manufacturing.
The pair will also likely discuss agriculture.
Israel has set up 26 educational agriculture centers in India. The centers are distributed through 15 Indian states, demonstrating and teaching new agricultural techniques.
Israel is expert at growing crops in tough conditions.
In a departure from the norm, Prime Minister Modi will not be visiting the Palestinian Authority.
India has traditionally backed the Palestinians and quietly, Iran.
Iran supplies much of India’s oil.
It seems India could be pivoting more toward the West.
