Emergency sirens for the Indian Point Energy Center will be tested on Sept. 21, Orange County announced Sept. 14. A portion of those sirens are located in Orange County, and full-volume tests will take place between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Residents do not need to take any action.

Sirens are located 10-miles around Indian Point in Buchannan, Westchester County, and will sound for four minutes simultaneously. During an actual emergency, sirens would be followed by messages via television and radio. The sirens are a signal to pay attention to those broadcasts and not a signal to evacuate.
