India has proposed foreign secretary-level talks with Pakistan. Islamabad has welcomed the offer, but asked for clarification of the agenda.
Renewed dialogue could relieve the strained relationship between the two nuclear powers. India suspended talks in 2008 after the terrorist attack on Mumbai, which paralyzed its most populous city for three days and resulted in more than 170 deaths.
Delphi blamed Pakistan-based militants for the assault, but Islamabad rejected the accusations. Both countries have been suffering from a long-term territorial dispute over the region of Kashmir, which is divided between mostly Hindu-dominated India and Islamic Pakistan. The exact date of the talks was not yet been made public.
