Five people are dead after two buildings collapsed in the Vadodara district of Gujarat, and at least 30 people are believed to be still trapped under the rubble.

Both the buildings were residential and seven stories tall, reported IBN. The second building was evacuated immediately after the first one collapsed and everyone one from that building is thought to have made it out safely.

The collapse happened in the Atladara area of Vadodara.

Rescue operations have started, according to Narendra Modi, chief minister of Gujarat. He said via Twitter that his colleague Nitinbhai is on his way to help at the scene.
