IRVINE, Calif.—An In-N-Out Burger located near the University of California–Irvine campus was broken into on March 26, whereafter a male suspect was arrested, authorities said.

Officers responded to a report of a man breaking several restaurant windows and vandalizing cars near the area at 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, according to the Irvine Police Department.

There were also several reports of gunshots, police said, but no evidence was found regarding such. The suspect was arrested.

The store’s windows were quickly repaired, and the restaurant resumed business the next day.

Students and nearby residents were seen enjoying their meals next to police tape, still visible around the previously broken windows.

In 2022, Irvine has been listed as the safest city of its size in the nation for 17 consecutive years, according to a comparison made based on crime statistics released by the FBI.
