Improvised Explosive Device Detonates Along Street in West Virginia: Reports

An improvised explosive device, or IED, exploded along a neighborhood street in Kanawha County, West Virginia, officials said on Monday.

Kanawha County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating the incident, WSAZ-TV reported. The incident occurred at midnight along Chesapeake Street in Hansford.

The device caused minor damage to the surrounding area.

The sheriff’s department bomb squad responded to the scene and collected evidence.

It’s unclear how the device got there, the station reported.

WV Metro News reported that pieces of the device are being analyzed. No one has been arrested.
