Immigrant Orientation Program Marks 20,000 Grads
Immigration Minister Jason Kenney presents gloves to graduates of the Canadian Immigration Integration Program Feb.12 in Ottawa. The occasion marked 20,000 graduates from the program, which since 2010 has been helping prepare Federal Skilled Workers and Provincial Nominees for the Canadian labour market while they are still in their home country. The program focuses on credential recognition, the labour market, and basic settlement information and support, and provides one-on-one counselling sessions. Immigrants receive referrals to colleges or organizations serving newcomers in the province they’re bound for, as well as referrals to employers and regulatory bodies in their field.
