Michael is an extremely dangerous category 4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Some additional strengthening is still possible before landfall. After landfall, Michael should weaken as it crosses the southeastern United States,” the NHC wrote. The storm has an estimated minimum central pressure of 928 millibars.

The storm is about 80 miles south-southwest of Panama City and around 85 miles west-southwest of Apalachicola.

The storm has 145 mph winds, enough to make it a Category 4 storm.
