A buckling oil derrick in Huntington Beach, California has forced evacuations in an apartment building and home.

The derrick was threatening homes near 1st Street and Pacific Coast Highway, reported NBC

The derrick began buckling during routine maintenance.

The buckling was first reported at about 1:30 p.m. PDT.
