A dog-walker stumbled upon human remains on the campus of Tacoma Community College in Washington, police said.
A Tacoma police spokesman said that the remains were found off a trail in a heavily wooded area that connects the north and south ends of the campus.
The parking lot closest to the trail is also adjacent to the offices for the Tacoma Area Coalition of Individuals with Disabilities Programs, reported KOMO.
An email alert sent to students and staff informed them of the discovery and asked them to stay away from the area, but the school remained open.
Police aren’t sure yet how long the remains have been there. The cause of death also hasn’t been determined as of yet, reported the News-Tribune.
