NEW YORK—Hudson Yards celebrated its first birthday on Dec. 4 with a five-foot cake in the image of the 10 Hudson Yards, the development site’s first tower.

“Hudson Yards is well on its way to redefining 21st Century development in New York City and forever altering the New York skyline,” L. Jay Cross, Related Hudson Yards President, stated in a press release.

By this time next year, the entire site will be under construction (video).

The 52-story 10 Hudson Yards will be complete in 2015, and is the future homes of Coach, Inc., L’Oréal USA, SAP, and Fairway Market—which created the cake.

“For Fairway, the real icing on the cake is being the anchor food market of such a dynamic new residential and commercial neighborhood that will redefine the west side of Manhattan,” stated Michael Lewin-Jacus, Fairway Market’s Executive Pastry Chef.

Starting Dec. 5, the Hudson Yards exhibition will be opening at the Time Warner Center for eight days.
