Technology giant Hewlett-Packard Co. (HP) may be nearing another acquisition. A Wall Street Journal report Sunday said that HP is close to finalizing a deal to acquire online security software maker ArcSight Inc. for around $1.5 billion, according to people close to the matter.

The proposed price would be $43.34 per share, a 23 percent premium over ArcSight’s Friday closing price. ArcSight, based in Cupertino, Calif., is a leading provider of services that protect businesses and organizations from hackers. A deal could be reported as soon as Monday. If consummated, it would become the second large acquisition for HP this month.
